Numeracy.

Mathematics is taught daily within the Numeracy Hour.  This offers a structured approach and a strong emphasis on the teaching of numbers.

Mathematical knowledge and understanding are necessary requirements for everyday life and we endeavour to equip the children in our school with these essential skills.

Our general aims for the teaching of Mathematics are to:

explore the creative aspects of mathematics

make children aware of the order and pattern in the world around them

develop a logical approach to the solving of problems

provide pupils with methods that will enable them to solve everyday
   problems

   develop an enquiring mind

engender confidence and an enjoyment of the subject

   create a positive attitude

gain a wide experience of practical activities.

Work is covered in a variety of ways and incorporated into the term's topic where applicable. We endeavour to encourage the use of investigative methods where possible.
