Core Curriculum Subjects.

Through our long and medium term planning we ensure children receive a broad balanced curriculum, adapted to their needs, but planned carefully to provide continuous progression.

We have a curriculum plan that allows children to learn through a thematic approach and which takes account of the national curriculum requirements. It allows teachers to be flexible and to provide activities which will excite and motivate the pupils.

Legal requirements for the content of the curriculum for pupils of compulsory school age are laid down in the Education Reform Act 1988. The National Curriculum comprises five core subjects; Mathematics, English and Science, I.C.T, and R.E.

Religious Education is a statutory requirement for all pupils in County and Voluntary schools.

Teachers assess pupils regularly to help monitor their progress through the curriculum.  Teacher assessment also supports the learning and teaching across the year groups. Children in Years 2 and 6 are assessed through the statutory tasks and tests and parents are given full information about how their children have performed, both in statutory tests and internal assessments.
