St John's is an ambitious school - 'rapidly improving', 'lively - a fun place to learn'...

St John’s is rapidly improving because of good leadership and management by the headteacher. Parents recognise this and are overwhelmingly supportive of the school, one typically commenting, 'The headteacher and staff are moving the school on from strength to strength.'

Pupils' social development is good. Most behave well and the school has a calm, purposeful atmosphere. This is recognised and appreciated by parents, a typical comment being 'The school gives off an air of calm and well-being when you visit it.'

The school makes a good contribution to the cohesion of the local community through its work with families in the attached Children's Centre. Pupils' moral and spiritual development is good and is enhanced by class and whole school assemblies.

We are very proud of the fact that in 2007 we achieved the Basic Skills Quality Mark and the Healthy Schools award in recognition of the excellent work that takes place at St John's - both these awards are externally validated. We have also achieved the Eco-schools Bronze Award
