Emma Smart

I have recently moved to Bristol having escaped London, where I worked as an architect for nearly 20 years. I’m currently still working for a practice in London. Many of the building projects I have worked on during this time have been within the education sector, from small play centres through to university research buildings.

I have always been interested in education and the role that architecture and good design can play in creating and supporting teaching and learning environments and general well-being; I also understand the challenges that primary schools in particular face.

This is my first governor role, so there is a lot to learn!

Having a son two years ago prompted our move and we are enjoying getting to know Bristol and becoming more involved in the thriving local community.
