Summer Reading Challenge 2026

As we head into the summer holidays, we would like to encourage all children to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, organised by The Reading Agency and delivered through local libraries.

The theme for 2026 is “Read to the Beat!”, which celebrates the exciting connection between stories and music, inspiring children to explore how reading and creativity can work together. The challenge encourages children to keep reading throughout the summer, helping them maintain and develop their reading skills while having fun.

Taking part is completely free, and children can sign up at any local library. Once registered, they can set their own reading goals, read books of their choice, and collect rewards as they progress through the challenge.

You can find out more information about the challenge by visiting the Summer Reading Challenge website.

Reading regularly over the summer is one of the best ways to support children’s literacy, imagination, confidence, and enjoyment of books. We would love to see as many of our pupils as possible getting involved.

Happy reading, and enjoy a wonderful summer!

Kind regards

Charlotte Allen and Alice Potter
