Young Voices 2019
On January 23rd, singers from our school choir travelled to Birmingham Arena to sing with more than 6,000 other children from schools around the UK in a Young Voices concert. They performed a huge programme of music including a medley from The Greatest Showman, an American Folk Odessey and a fantastic arrangement of ‘We Are The World’, to a packed arena, including some of our very own parents.
The event was made even more exciting by the live band and soloists, Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet, X Factor success story Beau Dermott and Basement Jaxx lead singer Sharlene Héctor, as well as the phenomenal hip hop dance troupe, Urban Strides who helped us to really raise the roof! Our singers worked so hard and performed brilliantly - an absolute credit to our school.

Singing Club at St George's

On Wednesday, St John’s Singing Club sang beautifully at St George’s when they took part in the Bristol Schools ‘Come and Sing’ Christmas concert alongside six other Bristol schools.  The concert was conducted by tutors from Bristol Plays Music and accompanied by a band of musicians including our brass teacher, Paul Harris. As if we weren’t, proud enough, our very own Zoe James was selected following an audition process to perform the only solo of the afternoon - which she did fearlessly!

Y5 Bristol Cathedral Concert

On December 7th, children in Year 5 performied a beautiful programme of Christmas music in Bristol Cathedral, alongside several other Bristol schools.

This supported the learning in their current Music topic, focusing on Christmas songs, performance and composition.

They had the opportunity to hear some fantastic and inspirational singing performed by professional singers from Bristol Plays Music teaching staff as well as Bristol Cathedral Choristers - and we spotted our very own (past St.John’s pupil), Martha Stables, amongst the choristers.

Owls and Falcons – Christmas Spiegeltent  Concert

Children in Owls and Falcons classes joined several other Bristol schools for a singing event in the Christmas Spiegeltent, in Waterfront Square,  on December 13th.  This exciting opportunity supported their current Music topic focusing on performance and singing.
