St. John's Church of England Primary School has a welcoming, family ethos that makes our school a very happy place for our children and their families. We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding education within a nurturing environment.

We deliver a broad and varied curriculum in order to promote a love of learning from an early age. St. John's children have the opportunity to explore, develop and celebrate their interests across the curriculum including art, music, sports, languages and computing. In addition, our pupils enjoy and benefit from the varied curriculum enhancement activities our school provides, be it expert visitors to the school; specialist enrichment weeks; school trips out to exciting destinations in our wonderful city and beyond or our residential trips for Year 4 and Year 6.

Our holistic approach to learning enables all children to develop into confident, articulate, and immensely capable young people, ready for their next stage of education and beyond. Our school's vision is: "working and learning together to achieve our best". Our goal is to inspire every one of our pupils to achieve their personal best.

We are highly inclusive and welcome children from all backgrounds and faiths and those with special educational needs. We are a Church of England school and this is reflected in our school Christian values reflect this:
  • Respect
  • Collaboration
  • Equality
  • Determination
  • Friendship
  • Positivity
We are proud of behaviour at St. John's School. As noted in our most recent Ofsted inspection:

"Pupils’ behaviour in and out of lessons is outstanding. Relationships are a particular strength. Tolerance and respect for others are fostered remarkably strongly."

"Equality of opportunity, tackling discrimination and the celebration of diversity are thoroughly embedded into all aspects of pupils’ learning. This ensures that they are very well prepared for life in modern Britain."

St. John's Primary School was founded in 1851 at the top of Whiteladies Road in Bristol. Today, our school operates over two sites: a new purpose-built infant school, located on Lower Redland Road in Redland and our junior school, steeped in history and located on Worrall Road in Clifton. Our junior site benefits from enhanced specialist facilities such as a music room and design and technology room.

Our school is well served by public transportation. St. John's is walking distance from Clifton Down train station and accessible by the many buses travelling on Whiteladies Road. If travel by car is required, parking is available on many streets near the school, including on Whiteladies Road, Pembroke Road and on the Durdham Downs.

Due to our location in a dynamic area of Bristol with close proximity to the University of Bristol, school places become available throughout the school year.
