Travel to School

Walking to school

St. John's Primary supports healthy and sustainable travel to school.  Students are encouraged to walk to school when possible.

Cycling or scootering to school

Students are welcome to park their scooters or bicycles at school during the day.  We recommend securing your scooter or bicycle with a lock.  For guidance on cycling to school and information about Bristol's cycling routes, visit Sustrans.

Getting to school by bus

St John's Primary is located just off Whiteladies Road, which is a major bus route in the city.  The bus stops nearest the school are: Apsley Road, Black Boy Hill, Chapel Green Lane, Upper Belgrave Road, Downfield Road, and Grove Road.  Journey planning and timetables are available from Traveline.

Getting to school by train

Clifton Down train station is approximately a 10 minute walk from St. John's Primary school.

Getting to school by car

If you have to travel to school by car, please ensure you leave enough time to park legally.  We ask that parents park at least a five minute walk away from the school to avoid congestion around the school at peak times and to keep our students safe.  There are pay and display areas near the school and on Whiteladies Road for visits up to three hours.  Parking for 30 minutes or less is free in pay and display areas.  For visits longer than three hours, the car park in Clifton Down Shopping Centre is approximately a 10 minute walk from the school.
