Christmas Fair Friday 6th December 2019

Christmas Fair Friday 6th December 2019

St Johns Winter Fair 2019 Map

The Christmas Fair is less than a month away so the PTA are starting to busy ourselves getting everything prepared for what will be a fantastic event with a great line-up of stalls and activities.

We are putting out a school-wide request for donations to some of our stalls – it’s a good way of having a quick clear-out before all of the new things arrive at Christmas! If you could help us with contributions to any of the following stalls, we would be very grateful:

Small gifts for the Secrets Room
The idea of the `Secrets Rooms’ is that children can enter without their parents, and purchase a small gift for them, which they then wrap and keep secret until Christmas day. Please bring in the little things you might have that need a new home (gifts you haven’t got around to using, samples you haven’t used, nearly-new knick knacks that are still in good condition). We’re looking for things that would make great gifts for ladies and gents – like CDs, DVDs, jewellery, puzzles, books, scarves, handbags, ties, bubble bath, kitchen goodies, frames, etc.  Any spare wrapping paper and sellotape would also be much appreciated!  The children absolutely love this stall as really enjoy selecting gifts for their grown ups, last year we ran out of stock quite early (particularly of mens gifts) so the more you can find to donate the better!

Prizes for the Toy Tombola
If you have any (new /unused/nearly new condition) toys that your children have never got around to using or duplicate gifts from birthdays, they would be fantastic prizes for our Toy Tombola. These can be anything you think a child at St John’s would like to win as a prize: mini lego packs, craft kits, activity books, trading cards, annuals, games, small toys etc. Please make sure that anything you donate is in very good condition (a condition you would hope to recieve something in) and that there are no pieces missing from jigsaws/lego etc.

Soft Toys for After School Club’s ‘Naming the Teddy’ Stall

Every home seems to have a stash of soft/cuddly toys they want to clear out – here’s your chance (good condition please).

Socks (preferably children’s) for Mini Christmas Stockings

Any (clean) odd socks that you’ve accumulated can be donated and they will be transformed into mini Christmas Stockings!

There will be boxes for all donations in place from Friday 29th November under the canopy outside the Dragon Boats and Balloons classrooms at Worrall Road, and in the Aqua Zone (aka by the toilets outside EYFS classrooms) at Lower Redland Road. For ease there will be one box on each site and we will sort through the donations to get them to the correct stall. Anything left over after the fair will be donated to local charity so will still help support a good cause.

Raffle Prizes

In addition to these items, if anyone has any contacts for larger items/services that could be donated for the Christmas Raffle, we would love to hear from you.  Earlier in the year a parent managed to source our first prize – a Dyson V8 Vacuum Cleaner whilst doing some work for The James Dyson Foundation, and another parent is once again donating a legendary Bateman Skip (huge thanks to them all!) so do please let us know (pta@stjohnsprimary.org.uk) if you have any contacts for similarly impressive prizes you may be able to arrange for us!  Smaller raffle prizes are also of course extremely welcomed!

Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to seeing you all at the fair!
Best wishes,
The PTA Committee
