Sporting Achievement Award

We are delighted to announce that we, St. John’s CE VC Primary School, have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. We are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

Increasing and sustaining participation in sport. Including at least 35% of children in extra curricular sporting and physical activity.

Providing many varied intra and inter school sports competitions.

Engaging a representative group of students in leading, managing and officiating School Games activities. Utilising sports coaches to support school sport and physical activity delivery to compliment our school games organiser’s provision.

Training and engaging wider school staff in the delivery of physical education.

Holding KS1 & KS2 sports day to create the opportunity for all children to participate in competitive activities.

Providing KS2 children with a day at ‘Clifton College’ where they experienced a diverse range of sports including archery, geocaching, yoga etc.

Entering 20 competitions against other schools throughout the year.

With an increased percentage of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

We are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
