St John’s Dancers Shine at the Great Big Dance-Off Regional Finals!
We are thrilled to share the incredible success of our school dance teams at the regional finals of The Great Big Dance-Off, which took place at the Bath Forum on Tuesday 29th April.
St John’s has not one, but two school dance teams who represented us at this prestigious event. To even reach the regional finals, both teams had to submit video entries – and it was already a brilliant achievement to be selected.
On Tuesday, our Year 3&4 and Year 5&6 dance teams travelled to Bath to perform on a professional stage. For many of the Year 3&4 dancers, it was one of their first time performing in front of such a large audience – and they did incredibly well, placing fourth in the entire region! They were just one point away from 3rd place, which is a fantastic accomplishment and shows so much promise for what they’ll achieve in the years to come.
The Year 5/6 team truly dazzled the judges and were crowned regional champions, taking home 1st place! This team has shown exceptional commitment, with outstanding attendance and dedication to rehearsals. Their hard work has been rightly rewarded, and we’re now excited to announce that they will go on to represent the South West in the national championships in Oxford this June, competing against top dance teams from across the country. We wish them the very best of luck!
We’d also like to give a special mention to our third dance team, made up of St John’s alumni who continue to dance with us even after moving on to secondary school. Coached by Miss Scarborough, this team competed in the highly competitive secondary division and came an impressive 5th out of 16 teams, scoring incredibly well. We are so proud of them!
A huge congratulations to all our dancers – you’ve made our school community so proud. And a heartfelt thank you to Mr Samaras, Mrs Lake, and Mrs Cox, who gave up their own time to support the children until very late on Tuesday evening. Without their commitment, opportunities like these wouldn’t be possible.
Well done, St John’s Eagles Dance team!
