I studied Russian and French at Bristol University and then served a full career as an Army officer, which took me all over the world.  After leaving the Army I was the Bursar of Downe House School near Newbury and, subsequently, Clerk to the Governors of a primary school and Chair of Governors of a secondary school in Andover, as well as Chairman of Longparish Village Council.

I now live in Clifton and am currently a Governor of Fairlawn School in Montpelier, so I hope my experience will be of value to St John’s.

I am very interested in History (particularly the Romans) and Modern Languages and look forward to promoting the study of those where possible.
