Ofsted Report May 2025 – A Place Where Pupils Thrive
We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, which highlights many of the things that make St. John’s such a special place to learn, grow and thrive.
The report, published following the inspection at the end of last term, recognises four key areas of school life as Outstanding:
- Behaviour and attitudes
- Personal development
- Leadership and management
- Early years provision
This achievement is a real testament to the hard work, skill and care of our brilliant staff team, the enthusiasm and kindness of our children, and the continued support from families.
While the new framework no longer gives schools an overall one-word grade, we are proud to have maintained Outstanding judgements in so many areas. The report describes St. John’s as a school where children flourish both academically and personally. Inspectors noted the “magical experience” of reading and praised our “uncompromising drive to give pupils a high-quality education.”
Although the judgement for ‘Quality of Education’ has moved from Outstanding to Good, the report acknowledges the school’s strong progress and clear commitment to ongoing improvement. We’re particularly pleased that Ofsted recognised our proactive approach, noting that we have already identified the right priorities for development. Work is already well underway in these areas, and we remain firmly focused on securing the very best outcomes for every child.
We’re especially pleased that the inspection highlighted the strength of our community and the focus we place on children’s wellbeing. The report notes that pupils “thrive” at St. John’s – something that families echoed too, with 100% of parents saying they would recommend the school (Ofsted Parent View 2024/25)
We would like to thank all our families, staff, governors, and pupils for making St. John’s the vibrant, caring and ambitious school it is. As we enjoy the final weeks of the summer term, we’re also looking forward to welcoming new families in September and continuing to build on all that makes our community so unique and nurturing.
