Art Trail October 2025
Thank you so much to all those who attended the Arts’ Trail at St John’s on Saturday! It was so wonderful to welcome your families and members of the public, to the event. The children have worked incredibly hard on their art learning this term and have shown creativity and individuality when producing their final pieces. Below, you can find a run-through of the different art topics explored, across the school:
- EYFS – The children were conducting observational drawing looking at fruits and vegetables. The children were able to use a range of resources to explore colour and shape.
- Year 1&2 – Children in the infant site were exploring drawing, inspired by Shantell Martin and Guy Larsen. Year 1 children also had some time to explore Aboriginal art, whilst Year 2 classes took part in a clay workshop during their Artists’ Week.
- Year 3&4 – The children were learning about Bristol artist BANKSY and how their art teaches key messages about the environment, greed and power. The children created environmental artworks, to teach others about protecting the planet; making their own stencils and printing using spray paints!
- Year 5&6 – The children explored ‘Pop Art’ and were inspired by Andy Warhol’s ‘Campbell Soup Cans’ to design everyday condiments/foods, ready to print using ink and rollers. The children used lino to cut and design their prints, which gave an amazing effect.
Finally, a big well done to all children who took part in our ‘A room with a View’ competition too. The ‘Winners’ and ‘Highly Commended’ entries can be found on the school website! If your child is in Year 5&6, we will take these artworks to Badminton School for an external competition too. More information TBC.
