Matt Lucas visits St John’s

On Friday last week, children from WR went to Redland Park Church for a highly entertaining afternoon with Matt Lucas. Best know for his appearances in Doctor Who, Paddington, Wonka and Alice in Wonderland, as well as presenting the Great British Bake Off, Matt discussed his brilliant children’s book – ‘The Boy Who Slept Through Christmas’.

The book is the first musical novel with cleverly placed QR codes every few pages that take the reader to a song that was written and performed by Matt; whatsmore, the words are at the back so you can sing along!  We found out a bit about Matt’s life and inspiration, got involved in a quiz, sang one of Matt’s songs and had a go at writing our own Christmas song. The children were really engaged, Matt was great at interacting with them  and there were lots of very funny moments!

Hopefully, Matt will have left a lasting memory on the children and maybe even inspired future writers, actors, musicians or comedians!
