STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
Recently we held a STEM competition, created by an organisation called Stemworks.
The children were asked, in pairs, to create a crane out of Knex that could lift a model of a wind turbine. The representative from Stemworks judged the cranes on effectiveness, originality and how well the pair worked together.
Our winners, Miriam-Beth E and Tessa C (Muller Class), were invited to Badminton school along with the winners from the other schools to make another crane out of Knex to complete the same task. This time they were judged by a group of young professional engineers who had been invited along.
Our girls did not win this stage but were amazing, and we are very proud to have them represent St John’s school.
